Situated onthe southernmost of the Liandong Peninsula, it is 30 kilometers away from Dalian and faces the Shandong Peninsula on the opposite side of the sea. Located on the throat of the Bohai Sea, it has been a place of strategic importance since ancient times. The port has long enjoyed the reputation as an Open-Air Musuem. Among its scenic spots are the Snake Island, the Bird Island, the Guesthouse for Birds on Laotie Hill, and the 100-Year-Old Lighthouse.
