What We Do

CNTO has a portfolio of annual events and activities, including joining major Australian travel expos, organizing familiarization trips to China, hosting themed promotional events and putting on travel advertisements, etc. We’ve been working closely with Australian tourism industrial players to provide travelers from Australia and South Pacific island countries to China with more convenient and enjoyable experiences and explore potential travelers alike.

Our basket of events and activities include the following:

1. “ Year of Tourism” to strengthen cooperation

In 2017 and 2019, China’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism joined hands with the Australian Trade and Investment Commission and Somoa’s Ministry of Tourism respectively and successfully launched the China-Australia Year of Tourism and Year of Tourism for China-Pacific Island Countries. The two years have both seen more than 100 co-hosted themed events all year round, which remarkably deepened mutual understanding and recognition of tourism resources of countries involved and highly promoted tourism cooperation and people-to-people connection.

2. “Beautiful China” booth to boost recognition

CNTO has proactive presence at Australia’s major travel expos and fairs such as the World Travel Expo Including Cruise by Flight Centre. With the slogan Beautiful China Beyond Your Imagination, it highlights amazing travel experiences in selected places around China and serves essential information for trip planning. To make the authentic travel stories more widely heard, CNTO and the China Cultural Centre(CCC) in Sydney work together in the Centre’s signature events as well as prominent Australian festivals and celebrations. At the Chinese Moon Festival and Tea Expo, or the National Multicultural Festival and similar events, visitors could have interactive touch onto China’s tourism and culture through the Virtual Reality(VR) high-tech, live performances, audio, and video presentations.

3. Cooperation for win-win outcomes

CNTO has been broadly partnered with the Australian Trade and Investment Commission, Tourism Australia, regional tourism bodies and operators, tourism-related business dealers, airliners, media and tourism agencies of China’s provinces and municipalities in Australia. With joint efforts, tourism training programs, targeted marketing events, B2B talks and travel consultation activities have been successful with cooperative ties knotted and one-stop deals and services well received.

4. Support Australian outbound tour operators in marketing Chinese products

CNTO keeps bonding Australian outbound tour operators with local tour operators in China. Meanwhile, to make the Chinese holiday packages upgraded and competitive in the Australian market, every year CNTO invites top Australian outbound holiday dealers and journalists to do familiarization tour in China and to take part in major Chinese tourism and cultural events, such as the China International Travel Mart(CITM), Dunhuang International Travel Festival and Cultural Expo.

To attract targeted travelers, CNTO puts on China’s tourism advertisements year-round in selected spots in Australia. Be it a magazine or facebook page showing the marvelous Great Wall, or cute panda face smiling on a big billboard, or the image of terracotta warriors on a city tram, those advertisements are warmly acclaimed and could annually reach out to up to 5 million audiences.
