Taizhou is located in the central part of Jiangsu Province, China, at the intersection of the Yangtze River, Huaihe River, and Yellow Sea. With a history of over 2,100 years, its name implies “national prosperity and people’s safety.” The city covers an area of more than 5,700 square kilometers and governs six districts. It is an important industrial and trade port city in the Yangtze River Delta region, renowned as a national historical and cultural city and an excellent tourist city in China.
Since the Ming and Qing Dynasties and modern times, Taizhou has produced many famous figures and boasts numerous cultural relics. Cultural sites such as Nanshan Temple, Qingyun Temple, Dongyue Temple, Chongru Temple, Hu Gong Academy, and the former residences of Zheng Banqiao and Liu Xizai attract many tourists from home and abroad. Scenic spots like Qin Lake, Fengcheng River, and Mei Lanfang Park offer picturesque views. Famous snacks such as Meilan Banquet, crab roe soup dumplings, the three fresh delicacies of the Yangtze River, Taizhou dried tofu, Huangqiao sesame cakes, and Xinghua hairy crabs are irresistible and leave a lingering taste.
Taizhou has established sister-city relationships with cities in six countries, including Latrobe City in Australia and Wellington in New Zealand. The city has a well-developed transportation network of railways, highways, air routes, and waterways, welcoming guests from all over the world.
